Use a low capacity one for greatest chance of success, since larger flash drives can be problematic on old systems. Hopefully your XP system can either boot from a USB flash drive. The first time you build that type of Rescue Media, you'll be prompted to download the WinPE environment from Microsoft. To do that, open Rescue Media Builder, click Advanced > Choose Base WIM, and select WinPE 3.1.

If your system's age means it can't boot newer Windows kernels, you might need to have your Windows 10 system build Rescue Media based on Windows PE 3.1 (Windows 7 kernel), which is the oldest version supported by Reflect. In that case, I would use the Windows 10 system to build Rescue Media, boot the XP machine from that, and use the Rescue Media to capture an image backup - in which case you don't need to have Reflect installed on the XP machine. Any thoughts on backup for SP2? I would try upgrading to SP3 but I need a backup or clone of SP2 first in case SP3 is incompatible with one of the old items.

I vaguely remember that when I built the XP system I had to use SP2 to accommodate an old piece of software or hardware. Unfortunately Reflect only supports Windows XP SP3. Thank you! I was able to transfer Reflect to the old machine. Then when you open it, change the edition to Free (not Home Trial), then click Options, and select 32-bit. Open the Reflect download agent - download link to Free version agent below. How do I acquire the 32-bit version so I can transfer it to the XP-based computer? I tried downloading the free version on a Windows 10 machine and all I get is the 64-bit version. I have the paid-for Home version on several other Windows 10 systems that I can download the file to. I have a 32-bit Windows XP-based computer that I use for legacy programs and hardware support that I would like to load the free version of Resolve on.
